WHAT IF IT WAS ME

"What if it was me", this is the question that we can ask ourselves, when we witness a situation, learn about a story, etc. It is with real pleasure that I present to you the first novel by a young Gabonese woman, Jennifer LEWORI "What if it was me" , from Obongame editions . A novel that I was able to read in preview and which then allowed me to meet its author to learn a little more about this need to tell and, above all, to make this new novelist known to the general public. I hope to take you on board and share my enthusiasm in the discovery of Jennifer's fictional universe, as I was able to feel it when I finished reading it. Are you ready to follow me? So, let's not deny ourselves our pleasure... Let's Go! The story, from the first pages, is a bit like a "sitcom".

The scene is set and I tell myself, I'm going to have a good laugh. Then, as I read, I think Harlequin (do you know what I'm talking about?). And, in the end, a kind of magic, in Hollywood mode, unfolds and operates. I felt like I was watching a movie and I enjoyed it. It was quite quickly that I let myself be carried away by the quality of the narration and the plot. The fluidity of the writing. The style is really simple. The plot is a "classic" story that cannot leave the reader that I am indifferent and I hope it will be the same for you, future reader. The novel can easily be classified in the "romantic literature" category. The reader meets three female characters who have dreams, fail and get back up. A novel about life, in other words. I won't tell you more... Hurry up and get it and don't hesitate to make it known. Happy (future) reading! Let’s move on to the second part of this article, my interview with Jennifer LEWORI. Dany : Hello Jennifer, could you introduce yourself to my readers?

Jennifer : I am a young 37-year-old Gabonese lady. Divided between Gabon and France, since I grew up in Europe. This sometimes causes me cultural problems. In fact, I am sometimes called "the French girl" in my country of origin (laughs). I am a mother of 3 children, including twins. Christian. I recently returned to Gabon and I work as a lawyer.

Dany : “What if it was me”, why this title?

Jennifer : This follows the death of my mother, which was a painful ordeal. Dealing with grief and talking about your feelings is not always easy. So I started writing and imagining characters like in the movies. It's the story of three friends: Delphine living her American dream as an intern in a communications agency in New York. Then, Jade and Sara, who are (really) the main actresses in this novel. I wanted to experience their feelings through their stories where friendship, jealousy and heartbreak coexist. You shouldn't trust appearances. Life is a journey filled with turbulence. This need to escape allowed me to travel into someone else's world and enjoy myself as if it were me. A reconciliation with myself, letting myself be carried away. You should know that it took me three years to imagine scenarios for these young ladies.

Dany : I won't keep you any longer. However, I want to tell you that you also allowed me to escape for the time of a reading and I thank you doubly for this mini interview and for this life lesson that I was able to feel while reading you. Dear readers, to get it, just go to one of the bookstores or order it online. My goal is to make you read this novel so join me and let's encourage the pen of this young author with our reviews (and) or our suggestions. I thank once again @leseditionsbangame.
